Sodium Ion Batteries

Sodium Ion Batteries have a lot of potential for use in Meshtastic nodes due to their larger operating temperature range.
Typical Lithium Ion Charging Temps: 32 to 114 degrees F
Typical Lithium Ion Discharging Temps: -4 to 130 degrees F
Typical Sodium Ion Charging Temps: -40 to 212 degrees F*
Typical Sodium Ion Discharging Temps: -40 to 212 degrees F*

Even not at the extremes, the sodium battery will retain more capacity at low temperatures and charge faster at low temperatures. In addition, you can deeply discharge sodium ion batteries without the damage normally seen in lithium ion battery applications. Another benefit is that the availability of sodium is very high (it is in saltwater), whereas lithium is relatively scarce.
